Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most custom engagement rings and fine jewellery projects, such as custom pendants or wedding bands, take approximately 6 to 10 weeks from design approval to completion in our Calgary studio. Timelines vary depending on stone sourcing, design complexity, and communication speed. We recommend beginning the process at least three months before your desired completion date to allow for a relaxed, thoughtful experience.
-
The cost of a custom engagement ring in Calgary depends primarily on the centre stone, metal type, and overall design complexity. Custom engagement rings typically begin around $4,000, with most projects falling between $5,000 and $12,000. Each ring is quoted individually based on materials and craftsmanship, and we discuss your priorities and budget during your consultation.
-
Every custom engagement ring project at our Calgary studio begins with a consultation to understand your vision, preferences, and budget. Once your quote is approved, design development begins through detailed sketches or CAD renderings. The process is collaborative and iterative, refining the design until it feels resolved and aligned. Production begins only after final approval. In rare cases where a project changes direction entirely after significant development, additional design fees may apply.

Yes. Consultations may be held in our private Calgary studio or virtually for clients across Canada. While some projects continue smoothly over email, most include at least one live consultation to ensure clarity and alignment.

We work with both natural and lab grown diamonds for custom engagement rings in Calgary. Each diamond is sourced individually based on cut quality, light performance, and overall value. We prioritize well-cut stones accompanied by professional grading reports such as GIA or IGI.
During your consultation, we explain the differences between natural and lab grown diamonds, including pricing, rarity, and long-term considerations, so you can choose confidently.
-
Yes. In addition to diamonds, we design custom engagement rings featuring high-quality coloured gemstones such as sapphires, emeralds, and rubies selected for exceptional colour, durability, and long-term wear.
We also work with alternative stones such as Montana sapphires, salt and pepper diamonds, and other distinctive gems for clients seeking a less traditional engagement ring. Each gemstone is sourced individually and evaluated for cut quality, structural integrity, and suitability for everyday wear.
During your consultation, we guide you through gemstone hardness, maintenance considerations, and setting styles to ensure your custom engagement ring is both beautiful and practical.
-
Yes. We regularly incorporate heirloom diamonds and gemstones into new designs. During your consultation, we assess the condition and suitability of your stone before beginning the redesign process to ensure it is appropriate for long-term wear.
Heirloom engagement ring redesign is one of the most meaningful ways to preserve family history while creating a modern custom piece. While we love repurposing sentimental pieces, not all heirloom stones are suitable for resetting. Older gems may have undetected chips, internal fractures, or wear that makes them too fragile for the pressure of a new setting. We prioritize the safety of your family treasures and will only proceed if we are confident the stone can be securely and beautifully reimagined for daily wear.
